As a Board Member of the Psychedelics Bar Association and frequent speaker on psychedelics issues, Matt focuses his practice on the law, business, policy, and (sometimes even) politics of drugs and healthcare. Licensed in Colorado and Illinois, Matt began his career in Chicago with a prominent national law firm, where he navigated corporate issues and commercial litigation. Following a brief time crafting policy in DC, Matt relocated to Denver, where he gathered diverse experiences as a member of the healthcare practice group of an AmLaw100 firm, assistant general counsel to a health insurance company, as an attorney with a prominent boutique cannabis law firm, obtained a certificate in healthcare compliance, and as a member of the Colorado Natural Medicine Advisory Board, subcommittee on Public Health and Health Equity.
At Antithesis, he provides corporate, insurance, and regulatory advice to companies operating in the psychedelics, cannabis/hemp, and technology industries. Among other things, he has assisted with: formation of a public benefit company for ketamine practitioners along with related fundraising documents; advising on various applications for licenses under the Colorado Natural Medicine Health Act; assisting a functional mushroom and superfood startup with entity formation, regulatory compliance, and business advisory services related to entry into the regulated psilocybin market in Colorado; formation of a non-profit focused on end-of-life care; formation of various entities for psychedelic-related coaching and other services and advice to licensed medical professionals regarding implications of working with psychedelics.
Matt is active in local psychedelic community organizations and is also a sought-after speaker who has presented for events and organizations hosted by MAPS Psychedelic Science, the International Cannabis Bar Association, and PsyCon Conference, among others. In his spare time, Matt can be found outdoors, hiking, rebuilding vintage cars, or travelling to new places where he can test out his language skills.
